| The week running
up to the Billing event gave us some terrible weather, with the forecast
looking even worse for the weekend. Heavy rain swamped the Billing site during
the week, and with reports of flooding coming from the Aquadrome, many people
were wondering if it was going to be worth the trip. |

|
|
However, the
weather improved a little on Thursday and Friday, and the weekend forecasts
suddenly turned around. In the event, the Saturday and Sunday turned out dry,
and hot! |

Saturday's cruise
was led off by Nervous Nick in the 'Nogbad the Bad' Devon gasser. The route
took us twenty five miles through the Northamptonshire countryside to our
destination, 900-year-old Delapre Abbey. |

After parking up
in the Abbey grounds, the cruise-goers could watch a Civil War re-enactment
group, and visit their historically accurate encampment. |

The Abbey was
also hosting a beer festival at the same time. Obviously cruising and drinking
don't go too well together, but with the aid of an empty 1.5 litre water
bottle, a couple of pints of 'Delapre Dark' were taken away to be enjoyed
later! |

| Mmmmm..

Sunday morning
started off hot straight away, as the cars began to fill the show field -
which was now pretty well dried out. |
|
|
|
| Pete Moore's
recently-completed Pop Ute made its first show appearance, and received a top
ten award. |
|
 |
|
|
|
| Mike Taylor's
Willys, now lowered and blown, also made the trip. The new shiny bits caused
quite a stir! |

|
| Andy House's '36
Ford. |

|
| Andy was pleased
to meet up with the owner of another '36.. not too far off completion, and
looking pretty nice. |

With the weekend
over, the participants made their way home. A few reported some rain towards
the end of their journey, and that night the rain fell heavily again, leaving
the Billing showfield looking like this on Monday morning.. |
